Making a Concrete Planter

  • 1140 Latta Street Chattanooga, TN, 37406 United States (map)

You know those cute concrete pots you see at nurseries? Jenny is going to teach you how to make those—from scratch! You’ll learn the basics of working with concrete, including how to mix it, making hypertufa (a mixture of concrete and other materials such as vermiculite) and the different variations you can create, working with a mold, what to do once it dries, and how to finish it. You’ll leave with your very own pot that you can put any plant you want in—and go on to make more!

About the Instructor: Jenny has recently relocated to the area to be near family and friends. Having traveled extensively courtesy the US Army and her husband of 40 years, she is ready to settle into her home. Art, decorating, sculpture and painting have been a part of her life forever, most recently earning a Masters Certificate from Cyprus College of Art on that island, creating sculpture from concrete. She considers herself a “maker” and has tackled everything from building a pole barn, to mosaic, and upholstery. In addition to the MA certificate, formal training includes a business undergraduate and Masters in Art Therapy.

Payment and Registration: Payment required in advance. $65 until July 20. $70 from July 21–24.

What You’ll Need: Clothes you don’t mind working in, way to take notes, and signed liability waiver (to be emailed to you).
