At this workshop, you will learn how to start and run a chainsaw safely and efficiently, how to buck and limb a fallen tree, safety procedures, the basic mechanics of chainsaws, how to tighten and sharpen the chain, and how to care for your saw. You will get hands-on experience by cutting some logs with guidance from Mariah! Safety first!
About the instructor: Mariah Prescott has been working in arboriculture for 15 years and is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist. She has done everything from running a chainsaw crew in northern Arizona to being the City Arborist in Dalton, Georgia. She was a Chattanooga Tree Commission member for 4 years and spearheaded many community tree projects such as Replanting Apison and the 2016 Earth Day celebration with the Nature Conservancy. Mariah is very passionate about educating the community on best tree health practices and the importance of our urban forests.

What you'll need: Something to take notes with. Long pants and boots (preferably leather). Clothes you don’t mind working in.

Cancellation Policy: We prefer at least a 36-hour notice if a participant is unable to attend. However, we do understand that this is not always possible. Participants who are unable to attend can either receive credit equal to the amount of the workshop they were going to attend, to be used within 6 months.
