Pruning & Planting Trees

At this workshop, you’re going to learn why you should prune, what tools you should use, when to prune different species, the right and wrong way to prune, see real-life examples, and participate in outside demonstrations. You’re also going to learn about the benefits of planting trees, when to plant them, how to plant them, and how to care for your trees as they grow. Plus, you’re going to get to help plant a tree!

About the instructor: Mariah Prescott has been working in arboriculture for 15 years and is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist. She has done everything from running a chainsaw crew in northern Arizona to being the City Arborist in Dalton, Georgia. She was a Chattanooga Tree Commission member for 4 years and spearheaded many community tree projects such as Replanting Apison and the 2016 Earth Day celebration with the Nature Conservancy. Mariah is very passionate about educating the community on best tree health practices and the importance of our urban forests.

Payment and Registration: Payment required in advance. $45 until April 5th at 11:59 PM.

What you'll need: A way to take notes, work gloves, work clothes, signed liability waiver to be emailed to you.

Cancellation Policy: We prefer at least a 36-hour notice if a participant is unable to attend. However, we do understand that this is not always possible. Participants who are unable to attend can receive credit equal to the amount of the workshop they were going to attend, to be used within 6 months.
