Join us for this interactive workshop to learn how to create compost, a beneficial soil additive, from food and yard waste. Participants will go home with a micro-composter to get their home compost started. Benefits of home composting include:
-Reducing the amount of waste going to landfills.
-Reducing the amount of chemical fertilizers and pesticides used in the landscape.
-Improving soil to reduce the amount of water needed.
-Suppressing plant diseases and pests.
About the instructor: Karen Dewhirst has been an avid gardener for over 30 years. She has put her green thumb to work in the city, in the country, in the ground and on rooftops, in pots, troughs, milkcrates, raised beds, and garden soil. Her gardening expertise includes pruning shrubs and espalier fruit trees, growing small fruits and vegetables, landscaping with native plants, annuals, perennials, shrubs and bulbs. Karen gardens using organic growing techniques and loves compost. Her enthusiasm for gardening is contagious!
Payment and Registration: Payment required in advance. $30 until March 16th at 11:59 PM. $35 until March 18th at 8 PM.
What you'll need: A way to take notes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, gloves if you’d like, signed liability waiver to be emailed to you.

Cancellation Policy: We prefer at least a 36-hour notice if a participant is unable to attend. However, we do understand that this is not always possible. Participants who are unable to attend can receive credit equal to the amount of the workshop they were going to attend, to be used within 6 months.
